Is it cold at your house? The temperature is frigid here. I found this sentiment on Facebook which totally sums up my thoughts for the week.
Since going outside is a bust, how about a few suggestions for this weekend?
We’ve been captivated and enchanted by the lovely Essie Davis in her role as Phrynie Fisher in Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Produced by an Australian company, the show is set in the 1920s. We’ve been watching via dvds from Netflix since its not available in our market. Please PBS pick it up! If you love Downton Abbey, I think you’d love this series.

Last post, I promised to share with you this awesome clothing service I found. Have you ever heard yourself say this?
I can’t find anything in the stores that I like and I don’t have the time and energy to shop for clothes.
If so, I’ve got the solution for you! It’s called Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is an online women’s personal styling service. A stylist is assigned to you and, according to a questionnaire about your clothing tastes and budget, they choose 5 items tailored to your tastes to ship to you. You set the shipping schedule which ranges from every few weeks to every other month. There is no sign up fee and you do not have to keep any of the items you don’t want. The only catch is if you decide to not keep any of the items you pay a $20 styling fee…not too shabby to be treated like a celebrity! Also, they currently don’t serve clients over size 14 but they have plans to do so in the future. I’ve received two shipments so far and I’ve been pleased with the quality and the items that I have been sent.
Here’s what I received in my very first box. I was so excited!
I love these dark chocolate cords. They fit great and are super soft. The blouse is really nice too. I wouldn’t have necessarily tried it on. I kept both of these items!
This striped top was super soft but I don’t think it does anything for me. I felt ugh in it and felt it accentuated areas I didn’t want accentuated. This item went bye-bye.
This sweater cardigan I almost kept but I had two others just like it, so I returned it. I was worried people would start talking about me and all of my aztec print cardigans.
The earrings were very pretty and lightweight but I felt the quality of them wasn’t worth the price so they were returned.
I felt this first shipment was pretty spot on for the types of clothing I was looking for and bonus I only had to go as far as my front door to find them! The company also includes a set of outfit cards as suggestions on how to wear your items, which I thought was helpful. This past week, I’ve been taking inventory of the blog and making plans for this brand spanking new year. While I was digging around and dusting off, I discovered a few things. I’d like to share them with you and see if I’m on target to deliver you better blog posts for this year.
What did I discover was the #1 viewed post for the year?
Y’all LOVED My Favorite Things 2014. In fact, 734 of you loved to read that post. What?! You missed it? Catch it here. The #2 favorite was My Favorite Things 2013 and other posts rounding out the top 10 included posts about house renovation, family events, and Catie’s cooking challenge. ( Thanks for supporting my baby! )
If I’m interpreting this data accurately, y’all would really like to know more about our family life and recommendations of favorite things or the sharing of products I like. I’ll be writing more on these topics for this year. To start off in the right direction, I found an awesome clothing company I can’t wait to share with y’all. I’ll be posting about it soon. You’ll thank me, I promise!
The time for posting about Christmas and decorations came and went.
I didn’t decorate much nor did I take many pictures. Our tree was simple and inexpensive this Christmas. The big flowers are made from brown paper bags, glitter, and paint.
I read 51 books this past year. Overall, I had an average year as far as books I really enjoyed. Most were only 3 stars. I’m hoping for better adventures this year.
All of the above books were 4-5 stars for me. I read others that were good and close to 4 stars but something was amiss in the telling. I have no favorites in a fiction category for this past year that met the 4-5 star mark.
In writing news, all I can offer is it’s coming — slow, arduous, and procrastinating-ly. (Is that even a word?) I hope, hope, hope to be finished with the draft by the end of the month. When that happens, I will share a little more.
Thank you to each and every one of you that choose to share a little time out of your busy lives to read my posts. You put a smile on my face and gladness in my heart and I hope I do the same for you.

To handle the stress of a close New Year’s Day bowl game, I started compiling this list together. Unfortunately, my team lost but oh, it was so close! Here’s a few things I learned in 2014.
1. The word, dilemma, does not contain an “n”. I’m gobsmacked. I could’ve sworn an “n” lurked inside the spelling of the word. Since I’ve always been proficient at spelling and an English major ( and perhaps want to live in denial of misspelling this word for years!), my only recourse is to assume that I was taught incorrectly and apparently, others were too. This post summed up the confusion over the spelling error.
2. This simple DIY post was a life changer over the Christmas holidays and created order to my messy wrapping paper rolls. Who knew a simple toliet paper roll or a paper towel roll when sliced down the side could act as a clamp securing the paper?! Genius! Check it out here.
3. I learned that conscious uncoupling is a fancy way of saying divorce. Does that mean I’ve consciously coupled for thirty years?? Sounds like racy plumbing talk.
4. I took a risk and shared photos free of charge to a local magazine that promised to give me photo credit and they honored their deal in their magazine. The FB page doesn’t show the credit so I chalked it up to learning a lesson not to share but the magazine does give credit. All in all, lesson learned is people are unable to please you to your expectations.
5. Writing is painful, consuming, and thoroughly fun all at the same time. I struggle with finding enough time to do it and have totally blown my deadlines I set but I’m still having fun. I’m hopeful to complete the draft of the bible study this winter.
6. Don’t go to the pound if you don’t want a dog. Case in point post here.
7. Cohabitating with your adult children, who have moved back in with you, can provide tasty perks. My daughter has taken over cooking on numerous occasions and blogged about her adventures on my site.
