Kitchen Table Update
Hey!
We bought our table years ago at an antique shop in town. I, especially, loved it because it is HUGE! It’s 4 feet across with 5 leaves so plenty of room for food and plates on the table.The finish has always needed to be redone. The old stain had darkened with age and some places were so worn the stain no longer existed.
Here is an old picture of the table, I couldn’t find one by itself.
With the new change in the kitchen, we decided the time had come to refinish the table. First, the old stain had to be stripped off. Those turned legs were a pain to strip! Next, I had Honey Do apply a white wash finish and a sealer. I wanted the table to look like weathered wood.
Ta da! I love my new and improved kitchen table. I think it turned out perfect.
Thanksgiving is almost here! I’d better start planning! How about you?

Kitchen Update
Hey!
I can’t wait to show off our new kitchen redo but you’re going to have to wait a little while longer… me too! :(
In the meantime, I thought I’d show you where we started, where we were and where we are now.
Move in day —- Thanksgiving 1997
A house with potential: Basically, a really nice way of saying we had a major fixer upper on our hands.
The kitchen had 2 layers of wallpaper, 3 layers of linoleum floor, 2 layers of countertop and grime to spare.
I filled 4 - ice cream gallon buckets of dirt dobber nests out of that vent hood! It was so gross and disgusting! Makes me grimace and shiver even now!
Major renovation in 2002…
Kitchen Redo 2011
Everything is a mess! The cabinets are being painted a creamy white gloss with a pop of aqua inside. The walls, ceiling and trim are next.
During my October challenge of cleaning out drawers, I tackled all of my kitchen gear so now its all waiting to be put in its place.
I’m so looking forward to my new and improved kitchen!!!

Mistletoe Marketplace 2011
Hey!
Mistletoe Marketplace was a blast! I want to share with you the decorations, but please, excuse the quality of my pictures, I only had my IPhone with me.
How about this entrance door to the Marketplace? A-mazing! I think the transformation of this standard commercial metal door is genius! Makes you wonder what wonderful things await inside, doesn’t it?!

into a magical place… Don’t you love it?!
Decorations, also, lined the main hallway.
I think this ornament display is a great idea to copy! How about above the fireplace instead of a wreath? Can’t you see it?!
One of the main shopping corridors had these wreaths hanging from the ceiling. Wouldn’t some of this look great added to a dining room chandelier?!
These mirrored obelisks were also down this hallway.
I loved these clusters of clear ornaments hung below the lights as you entered the brunch area.
The buffet table had these massive white flower arrangements with white spray painted and glittered branches sprouting out the top. All silk flowers—- they fooled me at first glance! Maybe, I was too focused on the cheese grits…. I was rather hungry…..shopping builds up an appetite!
The ceiling of the eating area had spray painted branches with mirrored garland. The whole area was illuminated with blue lights and we were serenaded by a jazz band. Ahhhh…
Our table decoration was a clever idea.
A magical wonderland for children
Mr. Rabbit is so handsome but he doesn’t look terribly rushed for an important date. He must not know how much time is left before Christmas!
I look forward to seeing the decorations every year. The Junior League transforms your basic warehouse into something spectacular!

Trip to Arkansas
Hey!
Honey Do and I slipped away a few weeks ago to my parent’s retreat that they recently built in Arkansas. My Daddy likes to fly fish and hunt and Arkansas offers plenty of that. This view is the back of the house which faces the river.

Musings
Hey!
I’ve been posting every day for 31 days and this morning… Day 32… I’m out of sorts. I’m afraid, you see, that I’ve developed a habit! I had planned to take a couple of days off before I posted again. But, I have thought about writing all morning and what to do and so… I’m musing today.
Fall has finally begun in my neck of the woods. Some of the trees have begun to change in my backyard. The temps are chilly at night and my outdoor cat has decided she would much rather curl up on our sofa at night than be outside.
This week, I’m going to Mistletoe Marketplace. I’m so excited!!! This amazing shopping experience down at the Trade Mart, is put on every year by the Junior League of Jackson. Vendors from all over the country come and set up shop and sell their wares.
Mistletoe has such a great vibe — you can feel the excitement in the air. I always come away with fabulous ideas, a lighter wallet and the feeling that the holiday season has begun!
I really enjoyed writing every day for the month of October. At the onset, I wasn’t sure that I would make it each day. Thank you to those of you who encouraged me and let me know you were reading. It’s really nice to know that what I’ve sent out into this great big world was appreciated and your support touches my heart.
