Hot glue old brooches, earrings, necklaces, buckles into a Christmas tree on a canvas and frame. I used black velvet from an old dress I picked up from a thrift shop as the background.
Sew buttons to a pillow in the shape of a tree.
Spray paint and stencil an old outdated or beat up tray or cookie sheet into a new holiday tray.
Decoupage and seal pictures on tile squares to make Christmas coasters. I’ll be posting a tutorial on this craft in the future!

I decided to use ornaments in white, gold, silver, gray, and blue. I added some brass letters, some words, a few bells, some nutcrackers which I spray painted and a few others throw in.
For a tree skirt, I bought a faux sheepskin at Target this fall and I kinda like it under the tree. I was going for a soft effect, not too flashy or busy.

My tree topper: This angel was handmade and given to us as a wedding present and she has topped our tree every year — all 28 of them.
A special ornament from a trip…
I bought a handful of nutcrackers and spray painted them. I found them at Michael’s for a $1! I pulled the hair off, painted and then reglued the hair. I think they turned out cute.
I will probably add a few more ornaments but for now, O Tannenbaum is looking lovely.
I’ve been busy wrapping packages the last few days. I have sneaky prying eyes coming for Christmas soon so this elf had to get busy! Don’t you think packages have a way of making a tree look fuller??

2. Penguin Classic Books: I’m one of those rare people that prefer a real book to my Kindle. I like the way a real book feels in my hand and how it smells and I like to write in my books. I just don’t get the same experience with the Kindle. I’ve asked Santa for the Penguin Classics. Beautiful books and affordable, in fact, I think they’re under $20.
3. J. Jill boyfriend jeans: These jeans are so comfortable and roomy. The cuff turns up but you can turn it down and go cuff-less. J. Jill was so nice about not stitching the cuff in or shortchanging the length. Thank you!
4. Kraft Jet Puffed Mallow Bits: I just discovered these marshmallow bits and they’re awesome for hot chocolate. They’re really cute and petite — about the size of a pea. I think they might be dehydrated marshmallows. Anybody know??
5. NIV Study Bible leather bound: I teach Bible study and Sunday School and I give my bible a work out so I prefer a leather bound. I like this version for teaching because I find it’s easier for people in different places of their faith journey to understand.
7. Aspen Bay Capri Blue candle in Volcano: My daughter and I would smell this candle every time we went in our Anthropologie store so eventually, I bought one. I’m sensitive to many smells and usually stick with vanilla but this one does not bother me. In fact, I bought a diffuser this fall.
8. CeraVe moisturizing cream: My favorite lotion hands down: nice and thick without being greasy.
10. Movies : A favorite family activity is popcorn and a movie so I thought I’d share two of our favorite Christmas versions of A Christmas Carol. My Honey Do likes the George C. Scott and I like The Muppets which has fun catchy tunes!
11. Mrs. Meyers All Purpose Cleaner : This cleaner is not harsh. I happen to like the lavender one but they carry other fragrances as well and so much better than ammonia which knocks you out. I ordered mine from Amazon but I think Target carries it.
12. Glow in the Dark Stars: For your bedroom ceiling. I have given them to my friends as gifts and I’m sure they shook their heads and thought I was crazy when I wasn’t around but when you look up at them at night you can’t help but smile. You’re camping inside in your warm soft bed.

Last night, I joined volunteers from three local churches and the local children’s home to participate in a Stop Hunger Now event hosted by my church. Each volunteer chose a duty and received the privilege of getting to rock a hair net.
I was a “sealer” so my job was to seal the bags once they had been filled and weighed.
“Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 14 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.”
A $25 donation feeds 100 children. Our goal was to pack and seal 25,000 meals and we met that goal in record time. We packed and sealed those meals in about an hour and a half.
The children rang the gong every time we reached 1,000 bags (and maybe a few extra times,too! ).
