Wisdom From The Animals: Day 16
In the Disney movie Finding Nemo, Marlin, a clownfish and Nemo’s father, finds himself swimming in the East Australian Current trying to locate his son. Marlin meets a sea turtle surfing the current named Crush. When Crush’s son, Squirt, falls out of the current, Marlin freaks out but Crush tells him; “Whoa. Kill the motor, dude. Let us see what Squirt does flying solo.” Marlin suffers from anxiety and worries constantly. Crush was teaching Marlin a valuable lesson about parenting and life.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” Philippians 4:6
Sometimes I need to kill the motor because I worry too much. I become anxious about things and not just the things in the present but the things that might happen in the future. These anxious and worrisome thoughts rob me of my joy. I become afraid and fearful but when I submit them to God, and truthfully, sometimes I have to give the same things to Him more than once, I feel my spirit lighten. I know that I can rest in the knowledge that God has it covered.
