Day 20 of 31 Days of Books off my Shelf

Day 20

Hey!

Couldn’t resist to share another quirky, wacky book that was wickedly funny!

Good Omens
 Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

According to the prophecies of Agnes Nutter,  the world is going to end on Saturday, next Saturday right before dinner.  The demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale have been on earth since the Beginning and they are not ready for the world to end.   They really like it here.
Crowley, the demon is described as

“An Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards.”
“He hadn’t meant to Fall.  He’d just hung around with the wrong people.”

Aziraphale, the angel:
“Aziraphale collected books. If he were totally honest with himself he would have to have admitted that his bookshop was simply somewhere to store them. He was not unusual in this. In order to maintain his cover as a typical second-hand book seller, he used every means short of actual physical violence to prevent customers from making a purchase. Unpleasant damp smells, glowering looks, erratic opening hours – he was incredibly good at it.”

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride motorcycles and leather jackets with Hell’s Angels on the back.  And to make matters worse, someone has lost the Antichrist.

“You’re Hell’s Angels, then? What chapter are you from?’ REVELATIONS, CHAPTER SIX.”

I’m laughing just typing this post!

“It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and
tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad,
but by people being fundamentally people”

Happy Reading!

Mimi
“Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those
who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
 Revelation 1:3  NIV Bible
